ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 | Schedule, Matches updates

The wait is over, as the ninth edition of the T20 World Cup is finally here. The West Indies and USA will host the event starting 1 June 2024. This is the first time the USA will host a Cricket World Cup event; ICC has given the USA the right to promote cricket in the American region. England will be the defending champions who defeated Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2022 by 5 wickets.

The ninth edition of the Cricket T20 World Cup has been expanded from 16 to 20 teams. Of 20 teams, 2 are the hosting countries, while 8 qualified from the previous edition of the World Cup. The next 2 teams have been picked from the ICC Men’s T20 Rankings. At the same time, the remaining 8 teams qualified for the regional tournaments contested by ICC.

T20 World Cup 2024 Schedule

The schedule for the World Cup 2024 is announced, starting from 1 June 2024 to 29 June 2024. The first match will be at Grands Prairie Stadium in Dallas between the host USA and Canada. See the table below for the full details about the T20 World Cup  2024 schedule.

Tournament Format

The tournament has been divided into a group stage, Super 8s and a knockout stage. The 20 teams have been divided into four groups, each group with 5 teams. At the end of the group stage, the top 2 teams from each group will advance to the Super 8 Stage. In the Super 8 stage, all 8 teams will split into 2 groups, with four teams in each group. The top two teams from each group in the Super 8 stage will play for the Semi-finals.

Teams and qualification

ICC held regional qualifier matches for the 8 teams; Ireland and Scotland qualified for the T20 World Cup 2024 from the Europe Qualifier. From America’s qualifier, Canada defeated Bermuda and made their place in the World Cup. In the Asia Qualifier, Oman and Nepal secured their victory and registered their names in the 20 qualifying teams. Uganda and Namibia from the Africa qualifier also finished at the top of the table and qualified for the 2024 T20 World Cup. FAQs

What is the price for T20 World Cup tickets?

ICC T20 World Cup 2024 tickets 7-day public ballot was closed on 7 February 2024. Now, the remaining tickets will be on sale again from 22 February. Anyone can apply for the tickets, with a maximum of six tickets per match for each person. The tickets are divided into multiple categories, including Premium, Standard Plus, Standard, Grounds, and Mounds/Standing Room Only (SRO), with prices from 6$ to 25 $.

Where will the T20 World Cup 2024 held?

USA and West Indies will be the hosting counties for the 2024 T20 World Cup. Out of 55 matches, 16 will be played in Lauderhill, Dallas, and New York. The remaining 41 matches will be held in 6 Caribbean islands, including Barbados, Guyana, and Trinidad and Tobago.
